Monte Mai

Mesmerizing and psychedelic, Monte Mai is a Swiss-Caribbean psychedelic art pop trio consisting of Fabio Besomi, Fabio Pinto, and Anaïs Schmidt. In this Swiss-Grenadian pop trio, a unique encounter between Swiss precision and Caribbean freschezza echoes through their music. A skilled blend of dilated melodies, angelic voices, and punching electronic beats is delivered in perfect harmony, providing a proper balance between man and electronic soul. Deconstructed rhythms, smoky bass riffs, lanky psychedelic nursery rhyme-like vocal lines, analogue synths, and angelic voices. A retro-manic journey into lateral pop and played electronica, creating a musical language all their own. Composition and production are stunningly accurate and wonderfully unpredictable, as they sway from minimalistic to jammed-full soundscapes with inventiveness and bloom.

Their debut album Eye Sea Double (2023), released in early 2023, received critical acclaim and brought about comparisons to Metronomy, LCD Soundsystem, The Knife, Son Lux, Animal Collective, and Vanishing Twin. They’ve been invited to play at festivals such as Montreux Jazz (2025), Fusion Festival (2024), MI AMI (2024), Reeperbahn (2024), Apolide (2024), Balélec (2022), and Eurosonic (2023), to name a few. To date, they’ve shared bills with the likes of Ibeyi, M83, Cigarettes After Sex, Los Bitchos, Nu Genea, Phoenix, CCCP, Odezenne, Yann Tiersen, and many more.

The new studio album Tropicalpino, produced by Emmental visionary Elf Domi Chansorn, dropped in March 2025. The band is now on tour across Europe, hitting Switzerland, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, and France.
