DA CRUZ

The only format currently booming in clubs around the world is Afrobeats and Baile Funk parties. DA CRUZ, the band led by Afro-Brazilian singer Mariana Da Cruz, has come up with its own unique format for its 2026 club tour. At the centre is a concert for the new album ‘Som Sistema’, on which she traces her Afro-Brazilian roots. But she does not do this by reflecting on musical traditions; she does it using the latest developments in modern black music.

The spectrum ranges from South African gqom to Brazilian baile funk to Caribbean shatta and various styles of new African club music. There are elements from Angolan kuduro, Brazilian phonk and trap. From these influences, Da Cruz has created a self-sufficient, contemporary Brazilian music with song character and a distinctive message.
